My First Experience with Ring: Amazing!

March 29, 2025

At First …

As with a lot of things, the first time I saw a Ring product was years ago at Costco. I picked up the Ring doorbell intending to try it but like I often do, I tossed in the back of my closet and never even installed it. Fast-forward to a month ago when we found out someone was messing around at our house. I couldn’t figure out what to get but my Son-In-Law DID and got me the Ring Doorbell Plus, which is battery powered but can also be wired into a standard home doorbell wire set. The results were really amazing. First the HD resolution makes a huge difference in being able to see potential intruders clearly – huge. Then the functioning of the camera with the app was flawless. If you want to know more, definitely check it out. And if you go this route, the Doorbell Plus will continue to function on batter power even if the power goes out.

Affordable

Ring offers multiple models and bundles so that you can absolutely find the best combination for your specific needs and budget.

Easy To Install & Setup

From unboxing to installing into our existing doorbell wiring (not including charging the battery because we didn’t know if our old doorbell wires worked) it took maybe 15 minutes. You download and install the app on your mobile device, and can of course login from a desktop or laptop, then setup your account and go live immediately. Bear in mind that you need a working WiFi internet connection of some kind to get Ring working.

Just Works!

I sometimes find the array of numerous brands and products overwhelming at times. If you’re like me, looking at a home enhancement area such as home security, seems so overwhelming that you often end up doing nothing, which is really not good! I had a prior experience with the Netgear Arlo system and it wasn’t a good solution for me at all. Ring offers a great combination of performance and functionality, array of products and value pricing.

My Last Word: Start with one of the Ring doorbell cameras and then build out your system from there.
